SW 501 THEORY AND PRACTICE OF SOCIAL WORK I

3.0 graduate credits

The first in a series of practice courses which introduces the student to an array of knowledge, values, and skills that comprise the core of social work practice. The focus includes the philosophical foundation, the self-awareness and values of the helping person, the professional relationship, and theoretical and practical approaches to problem-solving. Taken concurrently with practicum education course, SW 591. In this course are other substantive areas of the curriculum including ethics, human growth and behavior, research and social policy.
