SW 535 CHILD WELFARE PRACTICE AND SERVICES

3.0 graduate credits

Provides the historical and theoretical framework for understanding child abuse. Surveys neglect and physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, focusing on situations where social workers are likely to be intervention agents. Provides a foundation of knowledge and skills needed to work effectively with families affected by abuse and/or ne­ glect and to apply social work expertise to public policy decisions. Students will assess their personal values and the societal factors that influence work with these client systems.
