SW 565 SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE WITH GROUPS

3.0 graduate credits

Social group work is presented as a model of practice for affecting change at the individual, community, and institutional levels. Building on content from foundation practice, this course provides an historical overview of social group work, a conceptual understanding of the mutual aid process of groups, the use of program media as an integral part of practice with groups, and a theoretical understanding of small groups. Students should have had exposure to basic group work in foundation courses as a prerequisite for this course. Concurrent work with groups is preferred.
