This is the second of two discrete research courses. It presents the need for and the function of qualitative and quantitative analy ses to address research questions and test hypotheses. Approaches to qualitative analysis will be discussed, and the logic behind the application of descriptive and inferential statistical analyses will be introduced. Students will be responsible for processing data on microcomputers using a statistical software package. Discussions will occur regarding how analytical techniques must be tempered so as to provide the unbiased interpretation of results in regard to issues of diversity, oppressed, and populations at risk, particular ly those suffering the effects of oppression. In writing a research report, students will generate recommendations about policy, prac tice and theory, and will have the opportunity to apply theoretical and methodological knowledge gained during this course.
