An interactive investigation of the contemporary art world, including prevailing ideas and attitudes, prominent and emerging artists, institutions and seats of influence. This course takes the form of a traveling seminar with an integrated studio component, and includes trips to galleries and museums in New York City and elsewhere, in addition to on-campus research and studio work. The course is designed to give studio majors an overview of contemporary art theory and practice, and is open to students in all majors. Preferred prerequisite: Art in the Modern Era
