BIOL 421 BIOCHEMISTRY

3.0 undergraduate credits

This one-semester course covers the basic concepts in biochemistry, emphasizing the structure, reactivity, and dynamics of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates. In addition, a brief overview of carbohydrate metabolism, including the electron transport system and oxidative phosphorylation processes, are presented. Laboratory components involves learning advanced analytical skills related to topics covered in lecture. Three hours of lecture, three hours of laboratory. Science majors. Prerequisite: CHEM 332, 332L.
