Provides a working understanding of DNA, RNA and proteins associated with the eukaryotic (e.g. mammalian) cell. Emphasis on recent advances in the field of molecular biology and biotechnology. Three-hour lecture, three-hour lab. Lab is designed to provide experience in DNA and RNA manipulation, PCR, gene cloning. Prerequisites: BIOL 150,150L;151,151L;435,435L; CHEM 131,131L; 132, 132L. Science majors. (alternate years).
