Introduces the student to the vast and fast-growing field of computer-based information systems and technologies (CBIS/T) especially as these are strategically acquired, developed and deployed in different types of organizations. Various frameworks, principles, concepts, issues, methodologies and applications crucial to achieving and maintaining competitive advantage are discussed using a socio-technical and multiperspective approach. The social, organizational and ethical implications of CBIS/T, including electronic commerce, are also discussed. Prerequisite: BUS 103.
