An initial understanding of money: its definition, supply, importance, and control by the Federal Reserve System, as well as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, are covered. This is followed by the analysis of banking operations covering planning, performance evaluation, core and tier capital, risk management techniques, and the impact of government regulations on the management of financial institutions. Prerequisite: ECON 210 or its equivalent.
