Deals with computer-based information systems (CBIS) from three perspectives: management, analysts/programmers, and users. Topics include the evolution and impact of CBIS on individuals, groups, organizations, and society; the strategic importance of information systems; the technical foundations of information systems; the systems development life cycle; the challenge of effectively managing system resources; and the future direction of the field of information systems. Various cases highlighting the successful and disastrous application of information technology will also be discussed.
