The overall objective of this course is to enablethe students to identify their own personal, professional, and theoretical biases re garding the etiology of disease processes and to develop a broader conceptual framework for understanding the determinants of disease. This is accomplished by looking at diseases across the human cdevelop ment life span inclusing childhood, adulthood, and old age. The the oretical perspectives developed in this course lay the groundwork for students to explore concepts related to primary, secondary, and tertiary health prevention strategies and also provide a link to sub sequent courses in health promotion and wellness.
