A one-semester, upper division study of novels in which the initia tion theme is explored and analyzed: Huckleberry Finn, The Mysteri ous Stranger, The Secret Sharer, The Open Boat, The Turn of the Screw, Winesburg, Ohio, and short fiction by Crane, James, Bierce, and others.
