A comprehensive study of the history of women in the United States from the Colonial period to the present. Explores the development of the concept of gender in American society and its influence and importance. Studies the emergence of women's rights groups, the reactions of Americans to the feminist crusaders, and evaluates the achievements of the women's movement to the present.
