Examines basic concepts in neuroscience including: neurons, glial cells, the action potential and mechanisms of neurotransmitter action. Neuroanatomy will be examined and specific functions of brain regions will be explored in terms of learning and memory, language, behavioral neuroendocrinology, and neurological and psychiatric disorders. Methods used by neuroscientists and neurologists will be discussed throughout the course (cross listed with BIOL 305).
